Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup finely shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 24 lumpia or spring roll wrappers
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Sweet and sour sauce for serving

Directions

Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, shredded cabbage, carrots, onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed, creating a savory filling for the lumpia.

Step 2
Lay a lumpia wrapper on a flat surface with one corner pointing towards you. Place about 2 tablespoons of the pork mixture near the bottom corner. Fold the corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll up tightly. Brush the top corner with beaten egg to seal. Repeat with the remaining filling.

Step 3
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot (around 350°F or 175°C), fry the lumpia in batches, turning occasionally, for about 3-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 4
Serve the Filipino Lumpia Spring Rolls hot with a side of sweet and sour sauce for dipping. Enjoy the crispy exterior and flavorful filling as a delightful starter or alongside other dishes for a complete meal.
