Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp prepared horseradish
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 dash hot sauce (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1: Prepare the Shrimp
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add the salt and squeeze in the juice of one lemon half, then drop the lemon into the water. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until they are pink and firm.

Step 2: Chill the Shrimp
Transfer the cooked shrimp to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for 5 minutes, then drain and pat dry with paper towels. Keep the shrimp in the fridge until ready to serve.

Step 3: Make the Cocktail Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Stir until smooth. Adjust the seasoning to taste, adding more horseradish or hot sauce for extra heat if desired.

Step 4: Serve
Arrange the shrimp around a small glass bowl filled with the cocktail sauce. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve chilled.
